Description:

Process Engineer for large company in the coatings industry.

General Purpose of Job:

Maintain and improve upon all aspects of Engineering program/department.

Major Responsibilities:

Work in coordination with Sales Department for both existing/new sales customers and projects.

Work in coordination with Quality Department to resolve quality related issues; make recommendations for temporary and long-term solutions.

Work in coordination with the Production Department for new and existing product testing and trials, engineering line parameter changes and to minimize equipment/maintenance down-time

Work in coordination with all team members to achieve desired results.

Responsible for assigning, directing, delegating and verifying that all engineering related tasks are assigned and completed by System Operators (back-ups as needed) for appropriate processing lines; responsible for System Operator duties.

Ensure/review proper titrations of all applicable tanks are within processing parameters and adjust as necessary (temperature, chemical levels, concentration, etc… verify System Operators are properly trained to adequately complete task. Verify information is recorded daily.

Ensure/review the daily shift communication form is being completed and is effectively working between the shifts.

Assist with line maintenance and equipment projects as needed. Investigate and research equipment, maintenance and processing trends to improve efficiency.

Ensure proper chemicals, supplies, cleaning equipment, PPE are in stock and available for use.

Ensure proper processing equipment is running efficiently; make recommendations to repair/replace as necessary along with cost analysis.

Ensure “critical” processing equipment is available in emergency situations (create critical equipment log)

Interface with appropriate outside vendors.

Work with maintenance and outside contractors to resolve all equipment functional issues; ensure safety requirements are being met by outside vendors.

5S – Keep your desk and work area clean and organized.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Weekly Duties:

Review weekend tank cleaning requirements in coordination with System Operator; requirements consisting of labor hours, tasks to be completed and related information.

Begin to have weekly meetings with System Operators to encourage and develop teamwork and to raise the level System Operator Capabilities (keep log book minutes)

Complete and turn into HR your weekly Salary timesheet

Monthly Duties:

Ensure existing preventative maintenance records are completed. Review and make subtractions/additions as necessary.

Ensure chemical inventories are completed and accurate.

Recommend training for both System Operator and yourself; explain benefits of training.

Qualifications:

Must have valid Photo ID

Must have experience in chemistry

Must have good analytical skills; good written and communication skills.

Must have a record of dependability and good attendance

Must have basic mechanical abilities to correct (assist) with equipment problems.

Must be confined space and lock-out/ tag-out trained and work in a safe manner.

Must be able to follow proper purchasing procedure for ordering product.

Must be able to present yourself in a professional manner when dealing with customers and vendors.

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule; be available during of-shift hours; be available to travel as needed.

Must be able to work well with others in coordinating multiple tasks involving several process steps.

Must be able to delegate projects to appropriate associates and follow-up to ensure tasks are completed by designated times.

Must be able to male multiple recommendations based on cost effectiveness, quality effectiveness, processing effectiveness and customer satisfaction. Then present “best case” recommendation.

Must be detail oriented

Able to pass drug and background screens

4 year Engineering Degree in Material Science or Mechanical Technology

Ability to weld a plus

Must be willing to be “hands on”

Must have ISO experience.

Must have Coating experience
